TreasurySpring approved to become a Super Validator on Canton Network
Establishes a milestone-based programme to integrate Fixed-Term Fund Share ownership records on Canton. Initially a back-end upgrade, the move will preserve the existing client experience while laying the foundation for optional wallet-enabled utility over time.

18 September 2026, London - TreasurySpring, the global cash investment platform, today announced the approval of a milestone-based programme under which it will become a Super Validator on the Canton Network, the privacy-enabled blockchain purpose-built for institutional finance.
Through a process known as a Canton Improvement Proposal (CIP), TreasurySpring intends to record the ownership of a material and growing proportion of newly issued Fixed-Term Fund Shares (FTFs) on Canton’s distributed ledger technology. Those on-ledger ownership entries, together with the associated off-ledger records identifying each approved holder, are intended to constitute the authoritative record of ownership. FTFs are issued by TreasurySpring’s issuing vehicles, with each FTF linked to a single underlying cash-equivalent, high-grade fixed-income asset and a specified maturity date.
The first phase of the programme will involve an upgrade to TreasurySpring’s back-end infrastructure, with no change to the client experience. Clients will continue to use the platform and established subscription and settlement processes, without needing to operate a wallet or manage cryptographic keys themselves. The Transfer Agent will continue to administer the register and perform its existing responsibilities.
Over time, eligible clients may choose to hold FTFs through approved third-party wallet infrastructure and, where permitted, initiate activity involving their holdings. Potential use cases include intra-group transfers, borrowing or repo against FTFs and collateral posting.
The initiative builds on TreasurySpring's participation in a Canton industry working group that, in January 2026, completed the first cross-border intraday repo using tokenised UK gilts. The transactions showed how high-quality assets and cash can be mobilised across borders and currencies using privacy-enabled on-chain infrastructure that preserves institutional controls.
Matthew Longhurst, Co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer at TreasurySpring, commented: “Institutions are looking for ways to mobilise high-quality financial assets more efficiently without compromising privacy, control or legal certainty. The ownership record is the foundation. Integrating the core ownership component of the FTF register with Canton will establish a production model for sustained ledger activity while preserving the safeguards clients rely on today.
“Our work on cross-border intraday repo showed what shared institutional infrastructure can make possible. This approval allows us to take the next practical step: representing ownership records arising from recurring FTF issuance on Canton and, over time, giving eligible clients the option to use approved wallet infrastructure as a controlled route to transfer, financing and collateral use cases”
Veronica Augustsson, Partner at 7RIDGE commented: “7RIDGE is a private markets asset manager invested in transformative technology for financial services to power the global economy, and our involvement in Canton has shown us first-hand the potential of privacy-enabled shared infrastructure. As a TreasurySpring client, we already value the efficient access its platform provides to a broad range of high-quality cash investments for our private fund cash sleeves and for our portfolio companies. Bringing FTF ownership records onto Canton is an exciting next step, delivering even greater transparency and opening up valuable new utility over time.”
Viv Diwakar, Head of the Canton Foundation, added: “We are excited to welcome TreasurySpring as a Super Validator. Collateral mobility has quickly become one of the highest-priority onchain use cases, and TreasurySpring’s institutional cash investment platform will help advance this on Canton alongside other key ecosystem participants.”
